Young Innovators Set to Pitch STEM Solutions at the 2026 GSTEP Pitching and Judging Events

Excitement is building ahead of the 2026 Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Challenge Prize (GSTEP) regional pitching and judging events, as finalist teams across the four participating regions prepare to pitch their  innovative STEM solutions designed to address challenges within their communities.

In the coming days, teams from the Ashanti, Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta regions will present their creative ideas and demonstrate working prototypes developed through months of research, collaboration, mentorship, and practical learning.

The events will officially begin in the Ashanti Region on 21st and 22nd May 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bomsu. A total of 23 finalist teams, the highest among all participating regions, will present their innovations before a panel of judges.

The competition will continue at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tema on 26th May for the Greater Accra Regional event, where 10 finalist teams will compete with ideas focused on solving community problems through STEM.

On 28th May, the Eastern Region will host its pitching and judging event at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Koforidua, with 16 teams expected to pitch their  innovative solutions in various areas.

The regional events  will conclude at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints  in Ho on 29th May with the Volta Regional Pitching and Judging Event, where 11 finalist teams will pitch their prototypes.

This year’s edition marks a significant milestone as the Volta Region joins the competition for the first time. The inclusion of the region expands the reach of the programme and provides more young people with the opportunity to explore innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship through STEM education.

The GSTEP challenge continues to empower students to identify problems within their communities and develop practical solutions to create impact. During the events, teams will pitch their ideas, demonstrate prototypes, and answer questions from judges who will assess ideas based on impact, innovation, enterprising, teamwork, communication, and health, safety, and environmental quality.

In July 2026, all 60 teams will exhibit their innovation to the general public followed by the Awards ceremony.
