2025 FINALIST TEAMS

The 2025 edition of the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP) Challenge has brought together 50 brilliant teams of junior high school learners from across the country, showcasing the creativity, resilience, and STEM ingenuity of Ghana’s young minds.

This year, 15 teams were selected from the Greater Accra Region, 15 from the Eastern Region, and 20 from the Ashanti Region—each chosen through a rigorous evaluation process from over 1,500 original applicants.

Following their induction into the finalist stage in March, these teams embarked on a transformative three-month journey. With support from over Business Mentors and Technical Coaches provided by the GSTEP Consortium, they were guided to refine their ideas, build functional prototypes, and develop comprehensive business models using tools like the Business Model Canvas and Team Canvas.

Throughout the stage, the teams participated in engaging hands-on STEM workshops and deep-dived into real-world STEM applications through industry visits to institutions such as Ashesi University, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant. These visits gave the students unique insights into how science and technology are being used to solve problems in fields like engineering, waste management, agriculture, and biomedical sciences.

With their prototypes complete and their business ideas sharpened, the teams showcased their inventions at the 2025 GSTEP Pitching and Judging events held in all three participating regions. Their presentations reflected not just academic learning, but real-world problem-solving, community engagement, and entrepreneurial thinking.

All teams will exhibit their work and compete for national recognition at the 2025 GSTEP Exhibition and Awards Ceremony, taking place on 16–17 July 2025 at the National Theatre in Accra.
