GSTEP 2025 Exhibition and Awards Ceremony Set for July 16–17 at National Theatre, Accra

The 2025 edition of the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP) Exhibition and Awards Ceremony is set to take place on Wednesday, 16th and Thursday, 17th July 2025, at the National Theatre in Accra, with over 50 finalist teams and 7 perseverance teams from across the country expected to showcase their innovative science and technology projects.

This flagship event, organised by the GSTEP Consortium comprising the DreamOval Foundation, Partnership Bureau, Shulem Lake, and Practical Education Network, marks the climax of months of intense creativity, learning, and hands-on invention by junior high school students from the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Eastern Regions.

Now in its third year, the GSTEP Challenge provides a platform for young learners between the ages 11–16 to solve real-world problems in their communities using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The challenge is designed to develop not only technical know-how but also communication, collaboration, business planning, and innovation skills.

Over the two-day exhibition, students will present working prototypes of their solutions, ranging from clean energy inventions and smart agricultural tools to public health devices and safety tech to a national audience of educators, policymakers, STEM professionals, private sector leaders, international development partners and the general public.

In addition to showcasing the students’ work, the awards ceremony hosted on day two will honour standout teams and individuals with awards in various categories such as the Top 3, Excellence in Applied Science, Most Innovative Idea, Best in Material Use, Outstanding Teacher, Founder’s Choice and more.

Constance Agyemang, Founder of the GSTEP Challenge, emphasized the event’s significance in spotlighting Ghana’s future STEM leaders:

“The Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP) Challenge is a launchpad for innovation, problem-solving, and confidence-building in the next generation of Ghanaian changemakers. Year after year, we are inspired by the brilliance and creativity of these young minds. The inventions we’ve seen this year reflect the power of STEM education when it is practical, inclusive, and community-driven. We can’t wait to showcase their hard work to the nation and celebrate their extraordinary achievements.”

The GSTEP Exhibition and Awards Ceremony is expected to attract thousands of attendees, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, development agencies, private sector organisations, school leaders, students, parents, the media and general public.

The event will also feature workshops for industry leaders and students, exhibitions from partner organizations, and cultural performances, promising an impactful celebration of youth-led innovation.

The event is sponsored by AngloGold Ashanti Limited, Fidelity Bank, Goil, Multimedia Group Limited, Kowri and Special Ice Company.
