The 2026 Ghana Science & Tech Explorer Challenge Prize (GSTEP) is set to commence its Finalist Stage with induction ceremonies for outstanding teams across the four participating regions.
Prior to this stage, 120 teams competed at the Semi-Finalist Stage, where they presented their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) in video format alongside their Team Canvas and Business Model Canvas. Each team underwent a rigorous assessment process, demonstrating not only innovation and creativity but also teamwork.
Following careful assessment and moderation, the best teams with the most innovative and pragmatic ideas were selected to advance to the Finalist Stage. A total of 60 teams have been selected, 10 from Greater Accra, 16 from Eastern, 23 from Ashanti, and 11 from the Volta Region to be part of this highly competitive phase of the challenge.
The Finalist Induction events will commence in the Greater Accra Region on 23rd February 2026 followed by the Ashanti Region on 25th February 2026. The Eastern Region induction will take place on 27th February 2026 while the Volta Region event will be held on 3rd March 2026.

The Induction also serves as the official transition into the final stage of the GSTEP competition. It is a strategic orientation designed to prepare teams for the expectations, deliverables, and tasks that lie ahead.
During the inductions, finalist teams will be formally welcomed into the GSTEP 2026 Finalist Stage, receive a comprehensive briefing on the Finalist Stage roadmap and timeline, and participate in various workshops such as how to use the bespoke kits, Intellectual Property, Finance, Budgeting and Business Planning, Entrepreneurship, STEMplosion, and Marketing and Branding to refine their innovations and business strategies. They will also engage with assigned mentors and coaches for structured guidance and gain clarity on judging criteria and final presentations.

Teachers and coaches will also undergo workshops to ensure they are aligned with programme expectations and equipped to support their teams effectively.
The Finalist Stage challenges teams to move beyond the miniature prototypes toward building more refined, practical, and scalable solutions. With enhanced mentorship, structured guidance, and business development training, teams will strengthen both their technical and entrepreneurial competencies.
GSTEP continues to support young innovators in designing STEM based solutions that address real challenges within their communities.
