Twenty-two Youth Steering Group (YSG) members have officially graduated from the 2025 Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize Challenge (GSTEP) marking a celebration of leadership, innovation, and youth empowerment. The graduation ceremony took place on 15th July at the AKNAC Hotel in Accra.
YSG is an integral part of the GSTEP initiative, made up of outstanding young leaders who have served as mentors, role models, and STEM ambassadors across the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions. Over the past year, these ambassadors have inspired and supported Junior High School students, helping them explore and solve real-world challenges through STEM.
As part of their work, the ambassadors spearheaded activities for student teams in their regions, taking on leadership roles and providing guidance to Junior High Schools as they developed and executed their prototypes aimed at solving social problems.
Over the past nine months, these ambassadors have worn many hats as STEM advocates assisting the GSTEP consortium in implementing this year’s challenge. They supported student teams, encouraged innovation, and brought energy to the various events.
An integral part of the YSG programme focused on developing practical, real-world skills that extend beyond the classroom. Through monthly masterclasses and mentorship programs, ambassadors received training in communications, teamwork, public speaking etc.
These experiences helped shape them into well-rounded leaders—ready to contribute to make the world a better place. By the end of their journey, each ambassador had not only grown as a mentor but also as a confident and capable young professional.
As they step into the next chapter, these ambassadors will continue to be part of the growing network of young leaders shaping the future of STEM and innovation in Ghana.
A big congratulations to our 2025 YSG graduates!
